BIO

Lilyan Jones was born February 17, 2002 in Chicago , IL. On the day of her birth, her father said,“Today is Micheal Jordan's birthday, that means that she's destined for greatness.” From the looks of things he may have been right.

          Since her first day of kindergarten Lilyan has been an honor student, earning A's, B's, and other academic awards such as Illinois Young Authors, several Principal's lists, and honor roll awards. She is currently in 5th grade and is her school's student Council President. Lilyan enjoys helping others, some of her favorite things to do is mentor and tutor to some of  her friends. "I think that all girls should feel confident and happy, so whenever I can help someone I do, but I also like when my friends help me," says Lilyan. Now when it comes to style, Lilyan is a Fashion Diva that always catches your eye. She enjoys expressing herself through her fierce fashion and original style. 

 Hey Chick is a line of handmade accessories which was created by Lilyan Jones. She launched her line February 18, 2012 the day after her 10th birthday. Her inspiration came through her need to solve a problem. She needed to find a way to safely carry her personal things without losing another purse (which drove her mother completely crazy). Being a fan of 80's/90's fashion and culture Lilyan was familiar with fanny packs, but not a fan of the traditional design. She decided to design her own fanny packs to solve her problem. After getting so many compliments on her creation she decided to make a business out of it, with the help of her parents Lilyan was able to introduce her unique creations to the world.

After a year of designing countless accessories, Lilyan has developed her design talents. When asked what inspires her she answered "I like to take inspiration from EVERYTHING in my life. I like for my designs to boldly stand out. I would describe Hey Chick as a fun girly side of smooth jazz mixed with rock... My Dad says its 2013 Punky Brewster. Either way you will stand out in a crowd." These one of a kind designs are perfect for tweens and teens. Every piece makes a fierce statement. Its fun, colorful, funky, bold, retro, and a fresh twist on girls accessories. Hey Chick is a one stop shop for everything a girl needs to complete a ROCKIN look.

Lilyan is constantly coming up with new creations for her line. Soon you will be able to shop for her latest additions Punky bow ties, hair bows, neck ties and Chick Bands.

 

For the future Lilyan sees herself expanding Hey Chick on a worldwide level, she plans to have Hey Chick available in stores such as Walmart, Target, K-Mart and much more. " I would love to personally design a bag for some of my favorite celebrities such as Willow Smith, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Beyonce, that would be the best thing ever, says Lilyan. She also aspires to be an actress, mentor and humanitarian.

Lilyan has a natural love for self-expression and she is honored to share her "Journey to Greatness" with you.
